TPA Group Challenge: Studded Nails

Hello my lovelies! Finally it's the weekend! I've had a long week and some relaxation is in order. As usual for a Saturday, I have another manicure from the TPA Group Challenge for you. This week's theme is studded nails and since I'm a big fan of studs I really wanted to make something special this time. Unfortunately it was a bit of a fail but at least the colors are bright and cheerful.

I've seen a lot of painted stud manicures around lately so I really wanted to try decorating my own studs too. Since I've been wearing a lot of neutrals and dark colors this week, I really needed a pop of color. I decided to go for a mint green theme and used Nicole by OPI Alex by the Books as a base color. The idea was to paint the studs with China Glaze Four Leaf Clover and then add a dot of the NOPI in the middle, which I did, but the minty color changed when applied over the stud. The middle dot should be the same color as the nails even though it looks like a totally different color.

Another issue was that the top coat reacted with the pigments in the stud and became somehow yellow around its edges. That's the reason why I consider these to be a fail. I still wanted to post them because I liked the color combo. They look so fun!

I hope you still enjoyed these nails and I urge you to go visit the other girls' blogs because I've already seen some amazing stud manicures. Here are the links:

  6. I love the color of that China Glaze nail polish, it's wonderful. As for the manicure you call a "fail"... I first looked at your amazing pictures and then read the article... In-between, I was actually wondering "how the heck did she pull that magical effect around the studs ?" :D So... no, it's nothing near a fail, I would say it looks incredible... As for the dots on the studs... it wouldn't have looked nearly as beautiful if it had the same color as on the nails... Trust me, the nail polishes really worked in your favor ! <3 I love this manicure ! ^_^

  7. well, I really thought that you wanted to make a green/yellow dot and on top to apply the stud :) and now I see it was a chemical mistake :))) still, it's a very pretty design. kisses

  8. Ma tot uitam inainte sa citesc, de unde ai gasit tinte sa se potriveasca asa bine :)) Foarte frumoase. Culorile sunt deosebite, iar in ceea ce priveste galbenul, sunt convinsa ca doar in pozele astea macro se vede. E ft reusita manichiura!

I love Alex by the Books! Such a great formula! I think these are really cute even if the colors didn't come out as you expected :)

  10. I never thought that the yellow effect could be regarded as something beautiful. I guess it doesn't sound bad when you put it that way. Thank you so much! That's why I post all manicures, even those I consider to be fails. I know not all people have the same view as me.

  12. Multumesc mult! De cand tot vreau sa pictez tinte. Acuma dupa experienta asta nu prea ma mai trage inima sa incerc. Nici nu stiu de fapt care a fost cauza ca sa evit sa se intample din nou.

  13. Thank you! Yeah, it seemed to have a great formula the first time I tried it. I don't know what happened this time because it applied a little streaky. I still love the color though.

Oh that's strange... I think I've only used Alex by the Books once... hope mine didn't get streaky!

  15. I really like it with the different coloured dot on the stud, I had no idea it wasn't meant to be like that :)

  16. Mie mi se pare o manichiura reusita, si faptul ca ai colorat cu doua oje tintele arata din nou cat de creativa esti! Culorile sunt absolut geniale, bine adevarul este ca sunt un mare fan verde :)
