Neon Marbled Decals

Hello my lovelies! It's the weekend which means I finally have time to write some posts. This was another crazy week for me and an even crazier one will follow so I'm just glad to be able to get some rest and relaxation for a change. The manicure I'm showing you today is from before my vacation. I got inspired by a tutorial from the talented Cristina from Let them have Polish! to create some marbled decals. I will explain everything in detail but first let's take a look at the final result.

I know that I haven't done a great job with photographing these but my camera went completely crazy because of the neon colors. These were actually full nail decals that I popped over an older manicure with China Glaze Reggae to Riches. The decals ended up pretty opaque compared to Cristina's decals, so you can't really see the color underneath. It's a fuchsia with blue toned purple shimmer that can look more or less vibrant depending on the light.

I did my best to photograph this properly and used direct light to bring out the shimmer. I must say that this is such a cool polish. I own a similar combo of base and shimmer in Flormar U16 but the shimmer in that one is bigger and I think that the finer shimmer in the China Glaze makes it cooler and more elegant. I don't own this polish and got to try it courtesy of my friend Kinga, so I'd like to thank her for that.

As I previously mentioned, after wearing this amazing polish for several days I added the neon marbled decals on top. To see how I created these you should just watch Cristina's tutorial. The only thing I did differently was adding more drops of polish so that the decals turned out opaque instead of having clear segments in them. The colors I used to create these were: China Glaze I'm with the Lifeguard (green), China Glaze Hang-Ten Toes (pink), China Glaze Petal to the Metal (coral) and Orly Skinny Dip (blue).

The only annoying thing about these decals was application. Cleaning up around the nail is a pain and I ended  up spending about an hour with application for just one hand. If you are patient I think it's totally worth it though. The result looks a lot messier compared to a water marble but I like it a lot. It also offers an alternative to the people who are not good at water marbling. It's definitely an interesting nail art technique and it's worth trying!

I've been meaning to try out making these decals for AGES.
This post has reminded me of how awesome they can look when done right! Will have to remember to try these out soon.
