Monday Blues: Blue Overload

Hello my lovelies! I can't begin to tell you how bummed I am that today is Monday. I feel like the weekend went by too fast and this week will be a very stressful one. It already started with today but thankfully I'm done with work and I can relax and then hit the gym later. The manicure I'm showing you today was created especially for this post. My original plan was a total fail so I had to come up with something very last minute. I think these nails came out ok considering I did them in a rush. Take a look!

These originally started as scales but I don't know if they look right for that, hence the problem I had with the title of this post. I wanted to use different shades and finishes of blue polishes to give the illusion of a mermaid's tail. I guess I didn't place them right because the effect isn't what I expected. They still look pretty though.

I started with a base of China Glaze Bahamian Escape and then used a ton of polishes and a large dotting tool to make the dots. I did them one at a time so they could overlap on the right side so it took a bit of time until I finishes the whole nail. The polishes I used are: Essie Coat Azure, Barry M Cyan Blue, Essence Life is a Freeride, Avon Sequined Turquoise and Kiko 341 Cobalt Green.

I didn't wear these nails for too long because I took them off to do another manicure. I liked how they turned out though so maybe I'm gonna revisit this look someday. I still have to figure out how to place the dots to make them look more like scales. Don't forget that there are more Monday Blues in the links below!

Have a great week!

  1. These look awesome! I've always wanted to give this design a try too. I might have to but just as an accent nail instead.

  3. This is beautiful! It reminds me of that Children's book about the fish who starts to get shiny scales. I can't remember the name of it right now...
