Monday Blues: Waking Up At Midnight

Hello my lovelies! It's time for me to take your Monday blues away with a beautiful polish. Last week's post wasn't a very positive one because I talked about a polish that was a fail for me. To make up for that, I have a very happy story to tell today. A while ago I saw this beautiful franken called Waking Up At Midnight on Chiro's nails. If you don't know what a franken is, it's a custom polish created by mixing different polishes together. This particular one has been designed by Jeanette aka The Swatchaholic (you can go to the original post containing the recipe by clicking on the link). I didn't have some of the ingredients needed back then, so Chiro was sweet enough to send me a bottle. Here's how this beauty looks on the nails.

Waking Up At Midnight over Essence Hard to Resist indoors, artificial light

Waking Up At Midnight is a dark blue jelly full of flakies and tiny blue shimmer. Since it's a jelly, it would probably need 3 coats to be fully opaque. I only have a mini bottle and didn't want to waste it, so I layered it over a dark blue shimmer. This particular one is from Essence and it's one of the discontinued Colour&Go polishes in the old tiny bottle.

Essence Hard to Resist indoors, artificial direct light
Hard to Resist is full of a beautiful light blue shimmer that is very hard to capture on camera. I actually struggled to show you a tiny bit of the effect, but it's still far from how great this looks in real life. It needed 2 coats to be opaque and was on the thicker side. The mop-like Essence brush didn't help either. This polish is actually very similar to OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue and I need to do a comparison because the Essence is discontinued while the OPI is still available from what I know.

I just love the effect of these flakies! If you love this as much as I do, you need to try Jeanette's franken recipe. I'm very thankful to Chiro for sending this to me and now that I own Revlon Royal I will try making it myself. Hope you enjoyed my blue post. Have a great week!
