Monday Blues: Summer Sun

Hello my lovelies! As I've mentioned in last week's post, I'm currently enjoying the beautiful city that is Amsterdam. I couldn't skip this week's Monday Blues though, as I haven't done it in over 3 years since I started. I'm also very excited to show you this manicure because I absolutely love it. It reminds me of summer and even though it's the end of August, I hope you are still enjoying the sun wherever you are.

I don't like to toot my own horn here but I'm really proud of how these came out. They are by no means perfect but they are great in their own way. And so summery! They make me very happy as I'm writing this post and looking down at them. Too bad I will have to remove them soon.

I created this gradient using my new acrylic paints. They are so easy to blend and so opaque that I only needed two coats to achieve this look. Of course I used a coat of white polish as a base underneath. After the gradient was ready, I applied a coat of Seche Vite on the nails and did my cleanup around the nail with just soap and water. You can't imagine how easy it is! I then stamped an image from plate BP-L010 from the Born Pretty Store using Konad Black. I finished everything with another coat of Seche Vite.

The only downside of doing a gradient with acrylics is the fact that it doesn't last very long. Sooner or later water will get under the top coat layer and ruin it. You can however do your best to seal the tips and make sure you use gloves when doing any kind of household work. That way you will get to wear the gradient for at least a few days. The possibilities for these gradients are endless because you can mix your own colors. And they make great bases for nail art. Don't forget to check out the rest of the Monday Blues in the links below!

Have a great week!
