Hello my lovelies! Happy new year! It's been a long time since I posted on this blog and I won't go into the multiple reasons for that, but I hope to return since I really miss it. I've still been doing my nails almost weekly, mostly without nail art, and I even managed to grow them quite a bit over the holidays. Unfortunately, my job doesn't allow me to wear long nails, so I had to chop them off. There are a lot of cool new things in the nail world that I really want to try out and am excited about. One of the things I really wanted to get my hands on is a thermal color changing top coat* and the lovely people at the Born Pretty Store were kind enough to send one my way. Here's how it looks!

Monday Blues: Snow
Hello my lovelies! To those of you celebrating these days, I wish very happy holidays! Can't believe it's already Monday, which means that there's only one week left of my vacation. I know that it seems a lot but time surely flies by when you're having fun. We've been getting a bit of snow here these days and what better way to enjoy it than with a thermal polish. I think the best season for this type of polish is the cold one, because you can play with the different temperatures around you. I also managed to grow my nails a bit, which also helps with emphasizing the thermal effect.

Monday Blues: Dance Legend Termo Trio 1
Hello my lovelies! It's Monday and work has been absolute madness but it's ok because I managed to survive. I'm really excited because I finally have the chance to show you a fabulous polish. It's my first Dance Legend polish, which is an event in itself. Plus it's the first time I'm trying out a thermal polish that has three instead of two colors. I did my best to capture all of them on the nail and this is the result.

Hello my lovelies! Happy 2016! Welcome to the first Monday Blues of the year! I'm really excited to continue this challenge in the new year. For those of you who want to join us, there are some brand new inlinkz codes for the next 12 months. To get all the details you can join our Facebook group here. Enough with the organisational stuff, let's get to the nails. You all know that I love blue polish no questions asked, but when it's something special like a color changing polish I'm even more excited. This week I got to play with one, courtesy of my good friend Kinga.

Ruby Wing Gypsy
Hello my lovelies! It's Saturday and it's extremely hot outside so I'll probably spend the day lazying around the house. A day of leisure is nice every once in awhile, don't you think? I already did my nails last night and can't wait to show you the result on Monday but first I have a color changing polish to show you today. This is the first time I try a color changing polish that uses light instead of temperature to change color. I will be honest and say that I don't find it quite as fun as the other type. But let's take a look first.

Layla Thermo Effect No. 2 and Bubbly Effect Black Forest
Hello my lovelies! Long time no posts, right? At least the weekend is coming and I'm gonna have more free time for blogging. Today is Halloween and I really wanted to get a themed manicure up on the blog, but I didn't have any inspiration for nail art. Instead I did a little layering that reminded me of zombie nails. I started with a thermal polish that I got to borrow from my friend Kinga.

Born Pretty Store Color Changing Nail Polish Review
Hello my lovelies! It's Friday and I'm starting my weekend early this week. There's also something else to celebrate today because this is my 400th post. I won't make a big deal out of it and just show you something fun I received from the Born Pretty Store last week. It's one of those "mood polishes" that changes color based on temperature. I always wanted to play with something like this, so this was the perfect occasion.

The polish comes in a medium sized bottle and retails for just under $8. I'm not sure about the quantity of this, as most writing is in Chinese. The bottle looks a little weird because it doesn't have one single color. I think this is normal because it's hard for the whole bottle to have the same temperature. I applied it directly on the nail, with no base coat so it could be closer to my skin.
As you can see, the polish turns yellow at warmer temperatures and green in the cold. The part of my nail that is in direct contact with my fingertip is warmer, while the tips are colder and that's why I had two colors on my nails. I played a lot with heat and water so you will be seeing a lot of pictures in this post.
The polish is a little sheer and even though I did 3 coats there were still some bald spots on the nail. It dries to a rubbery texture and a little uneven, so I applied one coat of top coat to make it shiny. I was a little worried of it staining since I didn't use a base coat, but I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it doesn't stain at all. Here's a photo in the sun. You can see that my hands were getting colder.
And then they got completely cold.
I also played with warm and cold water and made a little collage for your viewing pleasure.
This is definitely a fun nail polish. It's a great way to do some sort of gradient if you are not good at nail art. It's also tons of fun to play around with it. If you want to give it a try, you can find it here. Don't forget that you can get a 10% discount by using code MFL91 at checkout. Shipping is always free for the Born Pretty Store, regardless of where you live.
Thanks for stopping by!
